Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy at St. Mary’s
At St. Mary’s Wound Healing Center we offer a specialized treatment called hyperbaric therapy. With this treatment, a pressurized chamber delivers 100 percent oxygen, helping your blood carry more oxygen to organs and tissues and heal wounds more
quickly.
This therapy can be used to heal:
- Diabetic ulcers of the lower limbs
- Soft or bone tissue death as a result of radiation therapy (radionecrosis and osteoradionecrosis)
- Persistent or recurring infection of the bone and/or bone marrow (chronic refractory osteomyelitis)
- Compromised skin grafts and flaps
- Actinomycosis (infectious bacterial disease)
- Loss of blood flow to a limb following a severe injury (acute traumatic peripheral ischemia/acute peripheral arterial insufficiency)
- Progressive necrotizing infection (necrotizing fasciitis)
Individualized Treatment Options
Our wound care team works with you to create an individualized treatment plan that addresses your specific needs and goals. In addition to hyperbaric oxygen therapy, we offer a wide range of wound care options, including:
- Bio-engineered skin substitutes
- Compression wraps to manage edema and swelling
- Education on preventing foot wounds for diabetics
- Advanced topical therapies
- Individualized exercise programs
- Pain management during treatment
- Evaluation of joints, tissue mobility and walking patterns to prevent wounds from returning
- Removal of damage or infected tissue (debridement)
- Scar management for wounds that are healing
- Negative pressure therapy
- Long-term swelling management
