Joint Replacement
Specialized Treatment for Joint Pain and Joint Disease
If you’re living with joint pain, you know that it can severely limit your ability to perform even relatively simple daily activities. If you’ve tried other treatment options, like exercise and walking aids, joint replacement may be able to
help.
The Carondelet Joint Replacement Center at St. Joseph’s Hospital specializes in using joint replacement to help restore mobility and allow you to get back to your daily routine. In fact, Carondelet Joint Replacement Center was the first in the nation
to achieve specialty certification for our hip, knee, ankle and shoulder replacement programs.

A Team Approach
At the Center, we believe in a standardized approach to joint replacement that includes collaboration by surgeons, physical and occupational therapists, nurses and case managers to give you the best results possible. We also believe that you are an integral
part of the recovery team and work to keep you informed and able to actively participate in all aspects of your care.
Beginning-to-End Care
When you undergo joint replacement at Carondelet, we’re with you every step of the way. This includes a dedicated program coordinator who will be your primary resource for questions, updates on your daily progress and helping ensure an overall positive
experience. Overseeing your care is our team of registered nurses and physical and occupational therapists each with specialized training.
To begin we ask you to attend a 1.5-hour education class we call our Joint Camp. During this time, you will be able to ask questions of the same staff you will see throughout your surgery and recovery period while learning how to prepare for and after
your joint replacement. The class is hosted by the Joint Replacement Center’s Program Coordinator.
Patients who meet specific criteria and receive their surgeon’s recommendation will have a physical therapy assessment the day of their surgery. Others may receive therapy in our on-site pool, the only inpatient pool therapy in Southern Arizona.
