Carondelet Health Network is Southern
Arizona’s oldest and largest non-profit healthcare provider. It is the
mission of Carondelet Health Network to provide for the healthcare needs of
the community; to embrace the whole person in mind, body and spirit; and to
serve all people with dignity.
Founded by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, the congregation was
originally established in France. The Sisters came to the United States in
1836 to serve the diocese in Carondelet, Missouri. In 1870, seven Sisters of
St. Joseph traveled from San Diego to Tucson to open a school. In 1880, the
Sisters opened St. Mary’s Hospital, Arizona’s first hospital. In 1961, they
opened St. Joseph’s Hospital to provide services for Tucson’s growing east
side. The Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet began managing Holy Cross in
1981 and assumed ownership in 1987.

COMMUNITY BENEFIT:In 2007, Carondelet Health
Network provided $32,055,750 in community benefit to the
southern Arizona region. Each year, Carondelet Health Network
provides community education and outreach, free immunization
clinics for children, health screenings, and community spiritual
care and outreach services for the poor and vulnerable
population in the community. Carondelet Health Network regularly
collaborates with community organizations as the American Heart
Association, and other non-profit organizations to increase
awareness to the community about health related matters. |
