Carondelet St. Joseph’s Hospital Trauma Center earns American College of Surgeons (ACS) Surgical Quality Partner distinction

TUCSON (November 1, 2023) – Carondelet  St. Joseph's Trauma Center has achieved the designation as an American College of Surgeons (ACS) Surgical Quality Partner. This recognition solidifies the center's commitment to maintaining the highest standards in surgical care.

"We are immensely proud of St. Joseph's Trauma Center for attaining the status of an ACS Surgical Quality Partner. This designation is a testament to our persistent pursuit of excellence and dedication to providing the highest quality surgical care to our community,” said Monica Vargas-Mahar, the Chief Executive Officer of Carondelet Health Network.

The ACS Surgical Quality Partner status is a mark of distinction, signifying that Carondelet St. Joseph's Trauma Center actively engages in practices and initiatives that elevate the quality of surgical services. This includes a commitment to evidence-based practices, continuous quality improvement, and a patient-centric approach to care.

As a Surgical Quality partner, Carondelet St. Joseph's Trauma Center is aligned with the stringent standards set by the ACS. This recognition not only reflects the center's commitment to excellence but also opens avenues for collaboration and participation in initiatives aimed at advancing surgical care standards.

Carondelet St. Joseph’s Hospital added trauma services November 1, 2019, which allowed the hospital to offer care for life-threatening injuries through around-the-clock availability of a comprehensive team of medical specialists and support staff.  It first received its Trauma Center status by the state in early 2020 and was designated as a Level 1 Trauma Center in 2021.
