HISTORY
Carondelet
Foundation advances the mission of Carondelet Health Network
through fund-raising programs including an annual community
campaign, direct mail appeals, special events, grantsmanship and
planned giving. The Foundation serves three hospitals along with
the inpatient, outpatient and community-based services that make
up Carondelet Health Network. Our three hospitals include -
St. Joseph’s and St. Mary’s
hospital which serve the needs of residents from Tucson and
surrounding communities, a population of nearly 500,000,
while Holy Cross Hospital
is located in Nogales, AZ, a city of 21,000 on the U.S./Mexico
border.
These three
hospitals locally comprise Carondelet Health Network which joined
forces with Ascension Health System in 2002. Ascension
Health is now the largest private non-profit Catholic hospital
system in the United States and has over 60 hospitals in more than
20 states and is sponsored by four provinces of the Daughters of
Charity, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Nazareth and the Sisters of
St. Joseph of Carondelet.
Carondelet
Foundation was established in May 1993 by combining three separate
foundations for St. Mary’s, St. Joseph’s and Holy Cross Hospitals
to solicit, accept, manage and invest donations for the exclusive
benefit of Carondelet Health Network and it’s programs and
services.
Carondelet
Foundation is incorporated under Carondelet Health Network with a
listing in the Catholic Directory and is thereby recognized as a
tax-exempt organization as described in Subsection 501(c)(3) of
the Internal Revenue Code. Therefore, all donations made to
Carondelet Foundation are tax deductible.
A Board of
Trustees comprised of 25 community representatives governs
Carondelet Foundation. The Foundation's efforts are augmented by
more than 600 auxiliary members and hospital volunteers
as well as a community fund-raising group,
The Centurions.
The
Foundation adheres to the highest ethical standards with regard to
fundraising and fund management. The Foundation’s financial
records are audited annually by an accounting firm selected by
Carondelet Health Network.
