Tips to Help You Quit
- Set a goal
date for quitting.
- Talk with
your physician about suggestions on how to quit, such as
joining a support group or using nicotine gum or
patches.
- Carondelet
Health Network is committed to help you quit using
tobacco and will offer some financial assistance to be
used towards nicotine gum or patches. In addition,
support and information will be available at various
Carondelet sites.
- Share your
desire to quit smoking with your loved ones and
coworkers.
- Remove
cigarettes and other tobacco items from your home,
automobile and workplace. Also, remove ashtrays and
lighters.
- Drink lots
of water and juice to flush the nicotine out of your
system.
- Begin a
new exercise program or hobby.
- Break the
smoking habit - determine when you are most likely to
smoke, for instance, after eating or when you experience
stress.
- Use all
the money you save from buying cigarettes to treat
yourself to something special like a mini vacation.
- Don’t be
discouraged—you can do it!
