    <title>New “President’s Fund” to Support Carondelet’s Mission to Heal</title>
    <link>http://carondelet.org/home/about-carondelet/newsroom/news-articles/articletype/articleview/articleid/19/new-presidents-fund-to-support-carondelets-mission-to-heal.aspx</link>
    <description>Carondelet Foundation Board of Trustees has announced the establishment of the Carondelet Foundation President&amp;rsquo;s Fund for Excellence, in the amount of $50,000.
&amp;nbsp;
The fund was established in recognition of the 130th anniversary of Carondelet St. Mary&amp;rsquo;s Hospital and in honor of the leadership of Carondelet Health Network President &amp;amp; CEO Ruth W. Brinkley. It was announced on May 18th at the annual Carondelet Foundation Dinner held at Loew&amp;rsquo;s Ventana Canyon.
&amp;nbsp;
The funds are unrestricted, to be used at the discretion of Carondelet Health Network&amp;rsquo;s President &amp;amp; CEO to support Carondelet initiatives, meet pressing needs and/or respond to emerging opportunities. Sheldon King, Chair of Carondelet Foundation&amp;rsquo;s Board of Trustees, called the fund &amp;ldquo;a timely and fitting use of private funding.&amp;rdquo;
&amp;nbsp;
&amp;ldquo;Healthcare challenges are at the forefront of our national collective consciousness,&amp;rdquo; King said. &amp;ldquo;It is gratifying to know that in Southern Arizona, generous members of the private sector continue to step forward with gifts to help meet this most basic human need.&amp;rdquo;
&amp;nbsp;
Brinkley has served as the Carondelet Health Network President &amp;amp; CEO, as well as West Ministry Market Leader for Ascension Health, since January 2008. &amp;ldquo;Our generous donors are once again making a positive difference in Carondelet&amp;rsquo;s ability to remain agile and responsive to complex healthcare challenges,&amp;rdquo; Brinkley commented. &amp;ldquo;I am grateful and humbled to be entrusted with this fund. It will be used wisely in support of Carondelet&amp;rsquo;s Mission to Heal and ongoing efforts to transform healthcare throughout Southern Arizona.&amp;rdquo;
&amp;nbsp;
More than 500 corporate, foundation and community leaders, including guest speaker and Carondelet Health Network spokesman, University of Arizona Men&amp;rsquo;s Basketball Coach Sean Miller, attended Carondelet Foundation&amp;rsquo;s annual dinner. The event celebrated the 130 years since the establishment of Arizona&amp;rsquo;s first hospital, Carondelet St. Mary&amp;rsquo;s Hospital, by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet.

Carondelet Foundation exists to engage Southern Arizona communities in philanthropic support of the Carondelet Health Network. For more information, visit www.carondelet.org/foundation.</description>
