Carondelet Health Network and Sierra Vista Regional Health Center announced today the execution of a formal Integrative Network Agreement effective April 17, 2010. This agreement will enable the two health care providers to combine strengths and deliver quality health care to tens of thousands of residents across southeastern Arizona.

Carondelet Health Network (CHN) operates four hospitals in southern Arizona, as well as the Carondelet Neurological Institute, 20 primary care and specialty care offices, two ambulatory surgery centers and various outpatient services. Sierra Vista Regional Health Center (SVRHC) is an 88-bed Joint Commission accredited community hospital located in Sierra Vista. The two organizations have long worked together as partners.

This agreement will allow these two long-established healthcare providers to work more proactively in their efforts to share resources, ideas, knowledge and experience leading to the very best quality care and outcomes for patients.

“As a nonprofit Catholic healthcare system, Carondelet has been blessed to serve the needs of hundreds of thousands of residents in southern Arizona – a Mission to Heal that began with the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet 130 years ago,” noted Ruth W. Brinkley, President and Chief Executive Officer of Carondelet Health Network. “Our affiliation with Sierra Vista Regional Health Center will only make us both stronger and help us fulfill our commitment to Carondelet 2020, our promise to transform healthcare in southern Arizona through more efficient and effective use of our resources.”

SVRHC has a rich history of providing care to Sierra Vista, Ft. Huachuca and surrounding communities since its inception as a not-for-profit hospital in 1963. “For almost half a century, our caring and devoted staff, knowledgeable and committed physicians, and strong leadership have been providing quality care to the residents of Sierra Vista and the surrounding communities,” stated Margaret Hepburn, Chief Executive Officer/President of SVRHC. “We are
privileged to take care of our patients during life’s most fragile moments and together, through this affiliation, we will strengthen our joint commitment to our patients.”

MARCH CONFERENCE TO PROVIDE CAREGIVERS WITH NEEDED GUIDANCE

Carondelet Health Network and the Roman Catholic Diocese of Tucson announced today a partnership to present an educational program, The Resilient Caregiver: Embracing the Spiritual Journey, at Tucson Convention Center on Saturday, March 13, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

This conference will provide information and support to caregivers – those responsible for the care of parents, older adults or other family members who cannot care for themselves. According to a 2009 AARP report, there are more than 600,000 family caregivers in Arizona. Studies have shown the stress of care giving can lead to depression, anxiety, anger, poor physical health and social isolation for the caregiver.

Carondelet Health Network and the Diocese of Tucson wish to provide both education and inspiration for caregivers through this conference. Experts from the University of Arizona’s Center on Aging, Carondelet Hospice & Palliative Care program, and panelists with both personal and professional experience in care giving will share their knowledge and insight with the audience. Attendees will take away valuable information from both the presentations and resource materials provided during the event.

There is a $10.00 registration fee, which includes parking and a light breakfast. Contact Conference Chair Mary Louise Luna at 520-873-5006 for more information. Brochures and registration forms are available at all Carondelet hospitals, Carondelet Medical Group offices and Catholic parishes in and around Tucson.
