Carondelet Health Network announced today that it is developing an Urgent Care at the Carondelet Medical Mall in Green Valley, located at 400 W. Camino Casa Verde. This location is already home to primary care, specialty care, state-of-the-art imaging capabilities and lab services. Construction to reconfigure existing space at the medical mall into an onsite Urgent Care is already underway. Carondelet expects to open the Sahuarita/Green Valley Urgent Care in December 2011.

“Carondelet has always been committed to bringing more care to the ever expanding population of Green Valley and Sahuarita, and we are proud to be able to do so now,” says Paula Register, Senior Vice President, Physician, Ambulatory and Continuum Services for Carondelet Health Network. “It has always been our intention to move forward with a plan for expansion of services that both meets the needs of, and provides value to, the communities along the I-19 corridor. Working in collaboration with local residents and community partners, we believe we have outlined an appropriate course of action with the creation of this Urgent Care and are eager to bring these services to the area.”

The Carondelet Medical Mall in Green Valley has been serving patients as a primary and specialty care location since the mid ‘90s. The current 26,000 sq. ft. facility offers primary care, diabetes care, Carondelet Hospice and Palliative Care, and appointments with physicians in a wide variety of specialties including gastroenterology, neurology, nephrology, obstetrics, gynecology, podiatry, orthopedics, and heart and vascular care. The facility also includes an imaging center, which offers new and improved imaging technologies in the areas of general x-ray, fluoroscopy, digital mammography, CT scanning, MRI and ultrasound. The advanced imaging capabilities of this Carondelet outpatient imaging center ensure faster scan times, enhanced image quality and reduced radiation exposure to patients.

Carondelet’s Sahuarita/Green Valley Urgent Care will not only provide quick, convenient access to this valuable imaging and lab services within the Medical Mall, it will also include ambulance bays for immediate transportation of patients to Tucson if a higher level of care is needed. Carondelet Health Network’s St. Mary’s Hospital is located just 25 miles from this new Urgent Care facility in Green Valley. If a patient presents at the Urgent Care with signs of a stroke or heart attack, they can be transported to St.
Mary’s Hospital, a nationally recognized center of excellence for the care of stroke and heart-related illnesses.

“Carondelet St. Mary’s is not just the closest, comprehensive acute care hospital to the communities of Green Valley and Sahuarita,” notes Winnie Fritz, Chief Executive Officer of Carondelet St. Mary’s Hospital. “It is also a designated Cardiac Arrest Center, accredited Chest Pain Center, and was recently awarded the American Heart Association’s Get with the Guidelines Silver Plus Award for stroke care and Get with the Guidelines Gold Award for the treatment of heart failure. Green Valley and Sahuarita residents can count on Carondelet St. Mary’s, and all of Carondelet Health Network, to provide high quality, compassionate care.”

One of the greatest advantages for patients who use the Carondelet Urgent Care in Green Valley will be coordination of care. Patients whose physicians are on property or who do not have a primary care physician can establish a “medical home” for follow-up after their urgent care visit through the primary care office in the same location. It’s quick, convenient and reliable for continuity and coordination of patient care.

The initial hours of operation for the Carondelet Urgent Care in Green Valley are expected to be 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
