Carondelet Health Network and the Roman Catholic Diocese of Tucson today announced an educational program, Answering God’s Call in Caregiving: Practical Steps to Care, at Doubletree Hotel on Saturday, February 26, from 7:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. This is the 2nd annual program, an event that drew more than 300 people in last year.
Event: Answering God’s Call in Caregiving: Practical Steps to Care
Date: Saturday, February 26, 2011
Time: 7:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
Location: Doubletree Hotel
445 South Alvernon Way
Contact: Mary Louise Luna at 520-873-5006 or firstname.lastname@example.org
A group of presenters will provide information to all attendees— covering topics ranging from coping with psychological and emotion issues for the person being cared for and their family members to the costs of care and assisted living options. There also will be a panel discussing legal and planning issues like the advance directives, medical power of attorney and guardianship.
“There are only a few opportunities for caregivers to get away from their situations and obtain some helpful information as well as gain inspirational strength,” said Mary Louise Luna, Planned Giving Officer for Carondelet Foundation and organizer of the conference. “We are addressing many stressful issues during our conference and are offering on-site care at the conference for the caregiver to bring the person for whom they are providing care. We are so pleased that Bishop Kicanas will be there to close the conference with a special blessing.”
“We know that caring for a loved one with chronic or life-threatening disease is always challenging,” said Most Rev. Gerald F. Kicanas, D.D., Bishop of Tucson. “We also know that when we offer this care in love we receive God's grace. When we place ourselves and the person we are caring for in God's loving care, we find the strength to carry on. How important it is for us to come together for a special day like this to learn, to share and to support one another.”
Attendees will receive valuable information from both the presentations and resource materials provided during the event.
There is a $20.00 registration fee per person and $10.00 for each additional family member who attends. The registration includes a continental breakfast and lunch snack. Contact Conference Chair Mary Louise Luna at 520-873-5006 or email@example.com for more information.
